So Then……

It was all going so well.

And then I remembered I was me. And since I’m me, I want to do about a bajillion projects at one time.

But seriously, let’s just say that there was this place. And when you went to that place, virtually, you could trade a handmade craft that YOU made for one that someone ELSE made of equal value. There would be no money involved except what you spent for shipping your own craft to the other person. Would you want to? Are you a crafter? Is this worth my time? Am I insane?

Well, let’s just leave that last question alone.

But I have to tell you, I have three craft trades of my very own lined up with her and her and her and I am PUMPED and loving this entire idea. Have you seen me pumped before? No?? You are lucky, Pumpkin, very lucky.

But I have a dream! A dream of a crafty exchange! Who’s with me? Unless someone already did this and I missed it. Because I did search, just so ya know.

  1. What a great idea! I am not a blogger, but I do enjoy reading the many that I follow regularly. Must you be a blogger to participate in your fab idea?

    Rachel

  2. absolutely not, rachel. anyone can participate. im working on getting something set up so it will be easy to join and trade.

  3. I’d like to do some swapping but you’d have to give me more details so I know what I’m doing. 🙂 My mom does swaps with some people everything from dog clothes to purses to whatever. It sounds like fun. This sounds so much better than craftster, more intimate. 🙂 Count me in as long as I don’t have to do my craft this week because I’m in the middle of moving. Hopefully, a week from today I’ll have all my stuff out of boxes and be able to sew again.

  4. That sounds like an amazing idea, Leah!

The only problem I can see is that those non-crafty people, like myself may not get to enjoy the craftiness of others. Though even I dabble in making jewelry.

Even so I am really excited about this. I hope you’re able to get this idea going.

  5. there are all kinds of crafty trading things out there –artist trading cards, altered books, dolls, cards, etc.

check out http://lisavollrath.com/ –she is always doing something and has great sites. registration is free.

  6. See? This is what I love about you. I did a search for this same thing back in September/Octoberish, because I was thinking: WOULDN’T IT BE FUN TO DO A CRAFTY TRADE BEFORE CHRISTMAS? Kind of like when your mom sends you an “I love you” package while you’re away at college?

And apparently no such blogger swap exists.

But, YOU, Leah, are wonderful. Because I am very much in love with this idea.

  7. hey gooseberried – there are already lots of great sites out there that do that (like etsy) so i think no. i think just straight trades. the idea is no money. but maybe trading other stuff if you aren’t a crafter. but i don’t know what. any ideas?

  8. well, is photography considered a craft? because that would be my only craft. i think it is a grand idea.

  9. yeah, great idea… I have tons of ideas myself, so many that it paralyzes me, so I watch tv instead.

as for non crafty people trading, how ’bout they trade raw materials for crafty things… like say you have a bundle of fabric… but you don’t sew, you could trade that fabric for something.

Thanks for turning me onto NING I have an idea. And I’m gonna not watch tv so I can implement it…… details soon
